Kids Who Code

Want to Work at Tech Company or Start Your Own?

According to the Department of Labor, there are over 500,000 jobs today in the computer science field and the job outlook indicates that it will continue to grow by 19% until 2026 which is much faster than many other occupations!

Wilbraham Middle School is the location for the club, Girls & Boys Who Code. They meet under the direction of Ms. Christine Goonan a technology teacher at Stony Hill Road Elementary School and our information technology teacher Ms. Sheila Slawiak in the WMS Computer Lab on Wednesday at 6pm-7:15 throughout this school year.

All WMS students are invited to join because it’s never too early to begin developing these critical skills. Students will be introduced to team building & collaboration skills, computational thinking skills, problem solving skills using Blockly coding, and time to practice their creativity using a variety of applications and devices! We are in year 2 of creating a Healthy Choice APP for kids 9 and older. This year we are focused on adding images to our working prototype.

Hope to see you!
